Visit to the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens, Dinner at Dante’s

Yesterday we visited the Pitti Palace and the Boboli Gardens. The Palazzo Pitti was one of the homes that Grand Duke Cosimo I lived in. Today it houses a huge art collection and hosts special exhibitions. We were able to view beautiful portraits of 14th-18th century individuals as well as other works of art. I was fascinated with the clothing gallery because it even had scraps of pieces of clothing worn by Cosimo I and his wife Eleanor. Kelsey and I freaked out a little bit because this is what we did our project on! After walking around the museum, housed in a beautiful palace with grand ceilings, we headed to the Boboli Gardens. I didn’t go deep in to the gardens because I was exhausted from staying up and writing all of my essays so a few of us headed to Marino’s for coffee and snacks. At Marino’s I had my favorite pastry (the one filled with crema) and a ham and cheese sandwich. Then we all headed back to take a nap.

Last night we decided to go to Dante’s Pizzeria. Dante, the owner, (who also looks like the Poet Dante) loves some of the people here on the trip with me so he gave us a lot of free things! I ordered bowtie pasta with bacon and cream sauce.  I shared a piece of cheesecake with Gabby. We then went to Karaoke at Red Garter. Kelsey and I sang “Ain’t no other Man” by Christina Aguilera together. I then sang “Someone Like You” (I know cliché.. but it’s Karaoke!) with the man leading the karaoke that night. We then danced for a few hours and headed back to our dorm. I was able to sleep in this morning and now I’m going to meet my mom and do a little shopping. I can’t believe today is my last day in Florence!!!
